Jury evaluation:

Shrink bags are used for sausages, meat and cheese as well as being widely used in industrial packaging. High demands are placed on the puncture resistance of the material and on the barrier, especially when sharp-edged pieces of ham have to be packed. This task is traditionally mainly fulfilled by multi-layer films that are difficult to recycle. Using three-dimensionally stretched polyolefin structures, the award winner successfully meets these requirements for high packaging security using only a recyclable PE structure just 55 µm thick, without the traditional PA layers or PVDC barriers. The jury praised the approach of finding a recyclable solution for the mostly invisible industrial packaging which is used in large quantities in food production.
