What the jury said
The German Packaging Award jury is impressed by the innovative and novel series packaging for the WMF Grand Wood knives. The combination, consisting only of paper, cardboard and carton, replaces the previous standard packaging, which used various paper and plastic parts.
It successfully reduces the use of plastic, which is particularly commendable in terms of sustainability and environmental protection.
The challenging development of using fibre-based materials for blade and puncture protection demonstrates a great deal of innovation and creativity. Striking the balance between function, cost and sustainability has been a great success, as the result allows the consumer to remove the knife comfortably and safely.
The protective function of this packaging at an attractive price was also very impressive, making it an outstanding knife packaging solution.
Overall, the series packaging for the WMF Grand Wood knives is a successful combination of functionality, aesthetics, sustainability and cost-effectiveness that fully deserves the honour of the German Packaging Award.
