Double-bill dvi event on 23 September 2020

The German Packaging Institute (dvi) has rescheduled the German Packaging Congress, postponed from March, to coincide with the regular industry event surrounding the presentation of the German Packaging Award on 23 September 2020. New registrations for the rearranged double-bill event in Berlin will be accepted from mid-April; a reduced rate will apply.

The 15th German Packaging Congress, originally scheduled for 19 March, has had to be postponed owing to the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, prompting the German Packaging Institute (dvi) to make a virtue out of necessity. This network and industry summit will be devoted to two game-changing issues – sustainability and digitalization – under the motto “Packaging for a better tomorrow” and will now take place as part of a double-bill event in Berlin along with the presentation ceremony for the German Packaging Award.

The regular Congress agenda from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. will be followed at 4:30 p.m. by the German Packaging Award presentation ceremony. From around 6 p.m. onwards, attendees will be invited by the dvi to share a light dinner lasting approximately one hour before heading home again.

“The double bill is an attempt to make the best out of the current situation and allows people to visit two important industry events in one day”, explains Kim Cheng, the dvi’s Managing Director. “That way, we can offer them unique added value while saving time and cutting the cost. A lot of other events have also been postponed until September and with a trade fair going on simultaneously, hotels in Berlin will be charging very high rates for rooms. The idea behind our decision was to let people attending the two events travel home again the same evening”, she adds.

The conference agenda for the German Packaging Congress will remain unchanged. The only difference will be that the workshops and excursions originally planned for the second day will no longer be taking place this year. The dvi will be reducing ticket prices by 150 euros for this reason. Anyone who has already registered to attend the cancelled event will receive a corrected invoice and a refund for the difference. New registrations for the rearranged double-bill event will be accepted from mid-April on the German Packaging Congress website.

The above changes will have no effect on the submission period for the German Packaging Award 2020. From 1 March until 15 June, businesses, institutions and individuals from Germany or elsewhere are invited to submit innovations and best solutions to Europe’s biggest showcase for excellence in the world of packaging. The German Packaging Award is open to all materials and is hosted under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy.
