What the jury said

dotch is a company offering a reusable system for pre-packed food in glass jars as a full service.

The company has already launched a system in the edible oils and vinegar segment, and specially developed and introduced a returnable bottle for this. The complete reusable cycle was developed over two years in co-operation with many industry partners. The manufacturers are provided with new or cleaned reusable bottles into which they fill their products. Retailers sell the products to the end consumer, who in turn can return the empties to standard deposit machines.

The containers have been registered with all reverse vending machine manufacturers, making it possible to exploit existing infrastructures and use standard reverse vending machines. The supplier takes care of the entire handling and logistics process of the empties.

The concept is particularly noteworthy due to its holistic approach, which involves all players in the logistics chain and builds on existing infrastructure.

The provider takes over the complex empties process (return, sorting, cleaning, etc.), making it possible for smaller companies without their own empties logistics to take part.

The returnable bottles are already being used by the bottler BIO PLANÈTE Ölmühle Moog GmbH. The company claims that each bottle can be reused up to 50 times.

This solution has been submitted by the two companies responsible for the innovation simultaneously and independently of each other in different categories and has been awarded in each category.
