The first day of FACHPACK in Nuremberg showcased the big stage for major innovations. The German Packaging Institute (dvi) organised the award ceremony and, together with more than 380 guests from the industry, celebrated the 41 winning innovations at this year’s German Packaging Award. The moment everyone was waiting for at this special industry event was the announcement of the five Gold Awards. The independent German Packaging Award jury hands out these Gold Awards to honour particularly ground-breaking innovations that stand out even from this illustrious circle of 41 packaging award winners. This time, gold went to outstanding solutions in the categories of Digitalisation, Functionality & Convenience, Sustainability and Packaging Machines. more
The 27 independent members of the German Packaging Award jury certainly had their work cut out: Almost 250 submissions from 13 countries flooded in to the German Packaging Institute e.V. (dvi), the organiser of Europe’s largest packaging exhibition, to be individually assessed and evaluated. In the end, 41 innovations in 10 categories were honoured with the prestigious and long-established award. The dvi is thrilled to see so much class at the top and across the board – and cordially invites the industry to the awards ceremony and the announcement of the Gold Awards at FACHPACK. more
The German Packaging Institute e. V. (dvi) is extending the deadline for submissions to the German Packaging Award 2024. Companies, institutions and individuals from Germany and abroad can now register their products and prototypes across all materials until 14 June. There are ten innovation categories in all to choose from at Europe’s largest showcase for packaging. more

On Wednesday 13 September 2023, the industry assembled at the German Packaging Institute (dvi)’s invitation in the “Meistersaal” historic concert hall in Berlin for the presentation of the German Packaging Awards 2023. During the celebrations, the winners of the Gold Awards were also announced, where the jury further honours four particularly ground-breaking innovations from among the already successful winners: an aluminium packaging for solid care cosmetics by Aroma Elite Naturkosmetik Manufaktur, a machine for producing sustainable packaging from common paper production fibres and other natural fibres by Kiefel GmbH, a recyclable mono-PE stand-up pouch with outstanding oxygen barrier and deinking features by Siegwerk and an innovative battery packaging with storage and separation system for full and dead batteries by student Leonie Theurer from HTWK Leipzig. more
The independent jury of the German Packaging Award 2023 has announced the winners of Europe’s largest showcase for packaging achievements. A total of 34 innovations from England, Germany, the Netherlands and Austria triumphed in the cross-material showcase organised by the German Packaging Institute (dvi) for the best solutions in packaging. The dvi is delighted with the high quality, diversity and range of innovations. The award ceremony will take place on 13 September 2023 in the Berlin “Meistersaal” historic concert hall. A recent study by the GVM Gesellschaft für Verpackungsmarktforschung market research company and ifeu – Institute for Energy and Environmental Research Heidelberg gGmbH, commissioned by eight industry associations, shows that the greenhouse gas emissions associated with packaging in the German market could be reduced by 94 per cent by 2045. The study predicts that packaging consumption in Germany will have peaked in 2021 and continue to decline in the future. On top of this, the use of recycled materials and recycling proportions will both increase. more
