Leaked document on new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) shows questionable and counterproductive measures

As a reaction to the content of the leaked document EUROPEN - and the dvi being member of EUROPEN - released together with several other Packaging Organisations a joint statement questioning the true sustainability of EU’s legislative revisions and pointing out a number of counterproductive measures planned. We express our concern that they are not based on sufficient evidence and may lead to greater environmental impacts.

Hall of fame: Six Gold Awards at the German Packaging Award

The German Packaging Institute (dvi) announced the winners of the Gold Awards at this year’s German Packaging Award on 27 September at a special industry event on the first day of FACHPACK trade fair. The six best innovations of 2022 come from the economic efficiency, sustainability, digitalisation, packaging machines and young talent categories. The 32 innovative solutions that had already won a German Packaging Award in August were also celebrated.

Innovative all the way to the top: the German Packaging Award 2022 selects 38 winners

The jury of the German Packaging Award 2022 has announced the winners of Europe’s largest showcase for packaging achievements. A total of 38 innovations from six countries triumphed in the competition organised by the German Packaging Institute (dvi) for the best solutions in packaging. The award ceremony will take place on 27 September 2022 as part of Fachpack in Nuremburg. The winners of the Gold Award, which further honours particularly ground-breaking innovations from among the already successful packaging award winners, will also be announced here in an exclusive feature.

Submission deadline for the German Packaging Award extended.

The German Packaging Institute e. V. (dvi) is extending the deadline for submissions to the German Packaging Award until 31 May 2022. The new deadline applies to all ten award categories. The largest European showcase for packaging covers all material types and is open to innovations and new solutions from home and abroad. It is held under the patronage of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action

Innovations ahead. German Packaging Award 2022 begins.

Launch of the German Packaging Award 2022! Companies, organisations and individuals have until 15 May to submit their innovations and new solutions to Europe’s largest showcase for packaging. The award, organised by the German Packaging Institute (dvi), covers 10 categories across all materials and is held under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy.

Resounding public verdict: packaging is more sustainable and better than ever before.

The latest results of a representative population survey commissioned by the German Packaging Institute (Deutsches Verpackungsinstitut e. V. (dvi)) show that the multitude of innovations in the field of sustainable packaging in recent years are being well received by consumers. Nearly half of respondents – 44% – perceive clear progress in environmental friendliness of packaging, and only 15.7% see it as having regressed. Moreover, three out of four respondents, 74.6%, confirm that this progress has been achieved either with no compromise in functionality and convenience – or even enhancing it. Even so, the dvi recommends further measures to implement the circular economy in packaging, and use of objective life cycle assessments to evaluate sustainability.
