CurTec’s ECO LITE Drum was developed for the pharmaceutical and speciality chemicals industries and demonstrates how packaging’s environmental footprint can be significantly reduced without compromising on safety, quality or regulatory compliance. The jury particularly commends the monomaterial HDPE design with its integrated lip seal, which improves recyclability and circularity. Material usage has been reduced by 25% through geometric optimisation and finite element analyses, whilst maintaining full UN-compliant performance. The use of 30% bio-based material reduces the carbon footprint by around 30%. At the same time, costs remain stable, making the solution both sustainable and economically scalable.
The jury considers that the high standards required and the technical sophistication of the detailed solutions make CurTec’s ECO LITE Drum worthy of an award.
