Around 20 % of household plastics collection in Germany consists of films, laminates and flexible packaging. Reason enough for riba Verpackungen GmbH to take up the challenge and replace the PE/PA composite film with an LDPE monomaterial solution. In the process, the proportion of recycled material was increased to over 80 %. This significantly reduces CO2 emissions and closes the material cycle with high-quality applications. From one package to one package – that is the circular economy. In addition, in order to make recycling credibly visible to the end consumer as well, the closure lids of deposit bottles were used to replace a carrying handle for freezer carrier bags – which is usually made of virgin material – with 100 % PCR material. Together with the PCR content of 80 % in the body of the carrier bag, this saves resources, protects the climate and visibly demonstrates to the end consumer the value of the contribution they make when separating their waste.
