Ölkanister mit LDPE aus der Getränkekartonverwertung

Die Jury sagt:

Wer neue Rezyklat-Quellen erschließen möchte, muss über den eigenen Tellerrand hinausblicken. Die Palbo GmbH hat gemeinsam mit Saperatec und AF Color genau das getan. So wird aus LDPE-Beschichtungen von Getränkekartons heute auch mal PCR für HDPE-Ölflaschen.

In Zusammenarbeit wurde der Prozess zur Herstellung der HDPE-Ölflaschen optimiert, so dass inzwischen über 50% PCR LDPE für die extrusionsgeblasene Flasche eingesetzt werden. Smarter Ansatz ist auch das in diesem Projekt der Hersteller des Farbgranulats eingebunden wurde, der ebenfalls das PCR LDPE als idealen Träger für das Farb-Masterbatch nutzt, was den PCR-Anteil der Flasche weiter steigert.

Diese Kooperationsleistung und die kreative Nutzung von PCR-Kunststofftypen in untypischen Anwendungsbereichen wird ausgezeichnet und erhält den Deutschen Verpackungspreis.

If you want to tap into new sources of recyclate, you have to look beyond your own horizons. Palbo GmbH, together with Saperatec and AF Color, has done just that. For example, LDPE (low-density polyethylene) coatings for beverage cartons are now sometimes used as PCR for HDPE oil bottles.  

The process for manufacturing HDPE (high-density polyethylene) oil bottles was optimised in collaboration with the company, which now uses over 50% PCR LDPE for the extrusion-blown bottle. Another smart approach is that the manufacturer of the colour granulate was involved in this project, and they also use the PCR LDPE as an ideal carrier for the colour masterbatch, which further increases the PCR content of the bottle.  

This cooperative effort and the creative use of PCR plastic types in atypical areas of application makes this initiative worthy of the German Packaging Award.
